What a fabulous piece of clothing the denim jacket is, it’s been around for years, but now and again it gets a well deserved revival, and 2015 is that year!!
Whether you wear it with a simple shorts and cami vest combo, linen trousers or crops or popped over the shoulders to finish off a snazzy and sparkly sequin shift dress, Denim is back (again!) to save the fashionista’s day.
Your only problem these days is the amount of styles, washes and colours the jackets are now available in.
Take the denim jackets range at La Redoute for instance – from traditional looking collared jackets with long sleeves and stud button fastenings, to collarless and mandarin collars, three quarter length sleeves or no sleeves and zips or open fronted jackets which all come in a variety of colours, washes and patterned pieces.
The list is quite endless, but if, like me you want a jacket to tone down some patterned tops and dresses and colourful linen trousers then the most traditionally styled denim jacket is the one for you.
I really love this timeless classic deep dark wash Levi’s cotton denim blouson jacket. With it’s authentic double breast pockets and front stud button fastening, together with the contrasting coloured stitching, this shirt collared and button sleeve cuffed jacket is just perfect.
Although this jacket is of a shorter length than most of my tops, I love the fact that as this year is all about layering, having a tail end of my breton or vest tops showing is ok! 🙂
The other piece I like is this buttoned denim stretch twill blouson jacket in a light stonewash blue shade, which definitely has a more summery feel to it.
The stretch denim cute and feminine jacket features small stud button fastening with twin chest pockets and again the contrasting stitch detailing to finish.
A denim jacket is a fab way to add a touch of casualness to a jazzy day to evening look, especially when teamed with a patterned maxi dress or lace top.
I must admit I’ve dug out my old levi’s denim jacket from about 20 years ago, which still fits and looks pretty cool, but it’s a dark wash jacket and with the Summer season soon upon us I’m looking to head down to the light stonewash pieces I’ve seen.
So will you jump on the denim jacket bandwagon? Whether you opt for the dark or stonewash shades a denim jacket will complete a smart casual look whatever the occasion.
