My children have had many years of enjoyment playing with Playmobil, the sturdy characters with interchangeable headwear, clothing and various accessories were always a great way for them to use their imaginative and creative minds.
Now Playmobil have created a new set of characters known as the EverDreamerZ. They are a group of five teenage girls who find a magical amulet which lets them travel to their dream world, finding new friends along the way whilst having lots of adventures. The five characters each have their own theme which takes them to either a comic or candy dream world.
They are named Rosalee, who loves candy, Viona is mysterious and artistic, Clare loves donuts and comes up with great ideas, Starleen loves to sing and dance, whilst Edwina is the sporty one and who loves everything about comics.
Playmobil EverDreamerZ Series 1 was launched back in March 2020, where the five friends venture into Rosalee’s Candy World dreamscape.
This is where you meet the evil Lady Nightmare who tries to turn the girls’ dreams into nightmares. But the support and power of the EverDreamerZ friendship unites them!
In series 2, which launches in September, the EverDreamerZ take a trip into Edwina’s dream world, Comic City. Here everything can be both drawn and erased, but you do get to meet some new additional mini characters to build up a new creative story.
Be warned before watching the EverDreamerZ teaser video below though, the theme tune is very catchy, so I guarantee you’ll be humming for many days afterwards!
I was kindly gifted some Playmobil EverDreamerZ Series 2 products in exchange for providing an honest review, so read on for my thoughts and personal opinion (including that of my daughter and her cousins!) on the products.
The Playmobil EverDreamerZ Series 2 provides an opportunity for you to collect the 5 Girls characters in big surprise presentation boxes and 12 surprise characters in surprise boxes.
The larger presentation box is set to cost £14.99, with the smaller surprise box costing £5.99 at the time of writing.
For this review, my sports mad daughter decided to open the EverDreamerz Edwina presentation box, as she liked the sporty character!
Firstly, you will need to open the perforated zip on the front of the box, to reveal a special book like box which has mini compartments to open, just like a Christmas advent calendar.
The box will give your child some lovely windows of surprises to open and play with. Younger children may need some assistance to open the boxes though.
Included in each presentation box is one of the five Playmobil EverDreamerZ collectible girls characters, along with several small surprise gifts.
These include an animal friend, removable skirt, an assortment of accessories, which follows the characters hobbies, bracelets, hair puffs, a sticker of the girl, a holographic trading card of the girl, and to finish off a silicone bracelet with one charm that your child can actually wear.
In the Edwina presentation box, the surprise gifts included a cat, hand bag, a weightlifting bar with weights and a skirt to name just a few of the items.
Two added bonuses include the water colouring pen and the silicone stretchy bracelet. This means that this set is more than just a toy, it helps your child to be creative as well.
My daughter and her younger cousins, enjoyed dressing Edwina and then putting her through some weightlifting exercises!
Once Edwina’s training session was done, it was time to move onto using the water pen included in the box to colour in her ‘Cool’ banner and book. After a few minutes the items return to their faded original state, allowing your children to colour them in time and time again.
The amazing accessories and surprise gifts mean that your child can unlock their imagination and change the look of the main character whilst building up their own dream world story.
Some younger children may need help with fixing the smaller accessories onto the characters especially the charms on the bracelet, as they are quite fiddly. I found that if you squash the loop side of the bracelet, the charms slip on much easier.
Depending on which of the five characters you choose, each presentation box contains between 28 and 33 pieces, meaning you get some good value for the money spent.
In addition to the presentation boxes, Playmobil also launched the EverDreamerZ Surprise boxes, which feature the twelve different surprise characters available to collect, with each surprise box containing one character, collectible card, charm to add to the silicone bracelet, stickers and various character accessories.
Our surprise box contained the appropriately named Colorfighter Lady, along with collectible card, stickers, red pencil charm and a painting backpack accessory.
Again the children had great fun adding the accessories to the figure before moving onto colouring in the Colorfighter Lady’s KA-POW sign using the water pen from the presentation box.
As with the presentation box, you do get your monies worth for what is included in the surprise box also.
Once the excitement of opening the various boxes had passed, it wasn’t long however before Edwina was wearing Colorfighter Lady’s backpack and the latter was doing some weightlifting!
Which just emphasised (and reminded me) how great Playmobil figures are for being inter-changeable and allowing kids to let their imagination and creativity run wild when playing with the characters.
Parents should be aware that some of the accessories are very small and younger children might be tempted to try and actually “eat” the treats which are included. It is clearly stated on the front of each box that there are choking hazards included due to the small pieces and the sets are aimed at children who are aged 7+ year olds.
Overall, I felt that these collectible products offer great value for money and would make a great addition to any Playmobil fans collection. They would also be a great surprise gift or stocking filler, especially for young girls.
Beyond actually playing with the figures, fans of the collectible figures can also enjoy the adventures of the EverDreamerZ characters on YouTube.
The videos give a fantastic back story for children to understand all the characters much better and stimulate their imagination. They’ll also be introduced to the likes of Lady Nightmare, Colorfighter Lady (whom I mentioned earlier), Erazorman, Kimby and Karmela to name but a few.
Another side feature of the collectible figures is the interactive Playmobil EverDreamerZ website, where your child can play a simple game of finding the candy and meeting new characters along her path, download printable colouring sheets and even some bedroom door hangers! All in all, it is yet another fun way to see their favourite toy characters come to life.
I, like my children have grown up with Playmobil and I think this latest collection of the EverDreamerZ characters is such a great concept for young children, whilst carrying a very important message – that these five strong female characters can chase their dreams whilst caring and looking after each other.
