Having started a new excercise regime, my muscles didn’t know what had hit them, and after a bit of research and chats to friends, I was told that a good old fashioned bath with Epsom Salts was one of the best remedies to aide aching limbs and muscles.

So I checked out some sites and finally came across The Eco Bath, Epsom bath salts in Holland & Barrett. The Eco Bath company based in London have a range of 8 different bath salts but I opted for the ‘muscle and joint’ Epsom salt bath soak.

eco-bath-salt-soakThe main ingredient in this bath soak is the magnesium sulphate. Magnesium and sulfate molecules are great for extracting excess sodium, phosphorus and nitrogenous toxins from the body. These molecules are absorbed through the skin whilst you are soaking in the bath and the toxins are slowly drawn out of the body. This is what causes the soothing action which helps reduce any swelling on achy joints.

The mineral rich epsom bath salts also smell scrumptious, and include these ingrediants, lemongrass, peppermint, eucalyptus and black pepper. These are all mixed with the aromatherapy oils, making this a gorgeous relaxation indulgence just for one – a rarity with kids!

So after one of my circuit training sessions, with my knees, thighs and calfs aching, I jumped into my muscle and joint espom salt bath soak and waited for the aches to ease!!

Granted it wasn’t a miracle cure, but I definitely felt relaxed and revitalised after a 25 minute soak. I think like anything of this sort, it’s the continuous use after excercise that helps ease the aching joints. An added bonus with this bath soak, is the aromatic smells to further enhance the relaxation of the whole body and mind.

It is a bit pricey for a bath soak at £8.49, but two advantages are, you don’t use much during each bathtime, making it last for ages and the muscle relief is well worth the money.

So if you are looking to ease your aches and pains after excercise, or just want some me time relaxation, then try The Eco Bath, London, at Holland and Barrett. They are a great starting point to look at, and Holland & Barrett stock the full range of Epsom Salt Bath Soaks.
