I was getting quite excited to see so much sunshine, thinking of the beach and lazy picnics in the park with my children, until I got my daughter to try on some of her Summer clothes!
I’d bought a few pieces back in March for our Easter holiday break in Spain, and couldn’t believe that she has grown quite so much over the past 3 months, with leggings becoming three quarter length and dresses becoming ‘mini’ dresses, it was a quick dash to pick up some new pieces to see her through the next 2-3 months.
Unless it’s a special occasion I tend not too spend too much on kids clothes, due to the exact reason I stated above – that they seem to grow out of them so quickly.
So I was looking for some simple cotton jersey dresses just to pop over my daughter’s head quickly and easily. I had a look around Matalan, Next and BHS and was definitely spoilt for choice.
Just picture around 30 children and mums trying to get their children showered and changed as quickly as possible and all at the same time – nightmare!!
Next have some beautiful pastel and printed sleeveless and cap sleeved dresses which look stunning and I especially love the Vintage sunshine collection which has many other pieces like shorts, tops and strappy sun dresses.
They have this gorgeously cute lemon pom pom trim dress which I just know my daughter will love. It is made from a light cotton fabric so will keep her cool in the hot summer sun and as she doesn’t like anything to restrictive around her waist this dress will be perfect.
I think it’s a bit smart for the swimming pool, but perfect for the beach and parks – to which we visit alot during the summer holidays.
From affordable playsuits, shorts, tops, dresses and all the accessories any special girl could wish for, this collection has it all.
So I opted to get this Tammy Girl multi coloured stripe dress in a fine lightweight cotton fabric.
I know this dress will be fantastic for the pool and beach alike, and the bright bold colours are so pretty and epitomise Summer.
Luckily enough BHS has a 20% discount on kids clothing at the moment so it would be rude not to take advantage.
I’m afraid I have stocked up a little bit on my little princess’ summer wardrobe, but will admit to having bought some bigger sizes this time so she can grow into them, instead of growing ‘Out’ of them too quickly.
I also had a look at Matalan’s 3 for 2 offer on their children’s Summer collection and got some great bargains in store there too.
I’m now hoping that my daughter will have enough pieces to keep her going through the Summer months and I won’t have to buy again until next year!
