A while ago I wrote a post about my fab new Lady Crossland hiking shoes from the Regatta Outlet website, and mentioned that I had also thought of investing in a pair each for the kids, well we finally got around to it, as the kids trainers were getting ruined!
The last straw came on a walk which included some muddy and wet puddled fields – the result – kids feet got soaked and yet another couple of pairs of trainers were ruined.
No matter how hard I scrubbed and washed them the muck was stuck to the breathable mesh uppers for dear life.
So off we went to have a look and found the perfect pair on the Regatta website.
My 12 year old son, has large feet, he is already a size 8, so he had to choose from the mens range at Regatta, and seeing as there are more choices of styles and colours, he was only too happy to do so.
He decided on the Edgepoint low hiking shoe in dark denim, and on their first outing on a walk through some woodlands near our home, they were a success!
No cold, wet or sore feet to complain about, just a lovely leisurely walk on a cold crisp day. The rain had actually stopped for a few hours!!
However, his trail shoes have sold out in the dark denim colour, but Regatta do stock numerous other colours, like these Rhubarb Red pair.
My son has a wide foot too so we ordered a half size bigger, to give his little pinky toe some room to twiddle about freely. The fit is perfect, and he did not complain once about his shoes rubbing his little toe or his feet hurting. That’s a great result 🙂
Onto my 7 year old daughter, now she has one wide foot and one narrow to normal width foot, both with high insteps, so again we went up half a size and picked out these cute Trailspace low junior in granite/vivid viola in a size 3 – Yes big feet seem to run in our family!
Thankfully the fit was great and due to the velcro fastening we could easily adjust the tightness to fit her varying sized feet.
My daughter also commented on how comfortable these hiking shoes were, and even when we stepped through muddy puddles and little low streams through the woodland, her feet were kept dry and warm.
Our mini 9 mile walk was enjoyable, with the only complaint from us all being our legs were tired due to some of the climbs we encountered, but none of us had achy ankles, feet or toes, which was the norm before.
So these fabulous hiking shoes were a great investment and as they are last season’s stock, they are almost half the original retail price. An amazing buy all round.
So we are looking forward to many future walks and hikes with warm and cosy feet in our almost identical Regatta Hiking boots! 🙂
Lets just hope the weather improves enough for us to get out and about again, before the children outgrow these durable walking trail shoes and boots.
