I’ve been looking for a small but spacious cross body handbag for a while. I didn’t want anything expensive as it was for the purpose of taking it to the footy matches of my beloved hometeam or watching the kids in their football matches.
My Regatta long winter padded coat is navy as are my new leather gloves, so to keep with that theme I searched for a navy blue handbag, to co-ordinate with the rest of my football spectators ensemble! (although my wellies are black & white floral pattern, so didn’t extend my co-ordinated pieces to my footwear!)
After looking around, I narrowed it down to the colour, shape and size of bag I was searching for and this made it much easier. I headed to Debenhams having seen a few handbags I liked online.
A bag is such a personal thing, it might look good on a shelf, but it may not fit comfortably on your shoulder, or have a fiddly clasp or zip, and colours vary from what you see online.
I came across ‘The Collection’ range and instantly liked the look of one of them.
Firstly, with it’s adjustable shoulder strap, it made for a good fit across my body as well as on one shoulder. It had one main zip topped pocket with two internal slot pouches and a zipped compartment – perfect! And to top it all, it’s got a front pocket with an easy clasp mechanism, for those small essentials like my lippy, and foldaway comb compact.
The bag is made from a durable 100% polyurethane with a rather jazzy navy blue and white spotted lining. With the dimensions measuring 20(H) x26(W) x 8cm(D) or in my old terms 7.8(H) x 10.2(W) x 3.1(D) inches! And at the extremely affordable price of £15.40, as I managed to buy it when there was a 30% discount offer.
Couldn’t find my navy cross body bag online – and I must confess it was the last navy one in the shop, but the black version above is really nice. Although the 30% discount has finished, there is still upto 25% off on selected handbags and purses, which includes this cross body bag.
This bag is my new ‘go to’ handbag as it has plenty of room for my everyday essentials.
I just need a new leather purse, as my black purse has definitely seen better days. (can’t complain though as it has lasted around 15 years)!!
Think I might opt for something a bit brighter like this Pure Luxuries London Red ‘Lusk’ purse which is made from a fine soft leather.
I love the fact that it has a zipped compartment for coins and sections for cards and notes aswell. It would definitely fit neatly into my new handbag and be easy to find as it’s such a vibrant shade of red.
So another little trip down to Debenhams to pick up this rather lush purse is in order!
Now I know it costs a lot more than my bag, but it won’t get so battered, bruised & muddy as the handbag, and once I find a purse I love, I want it to last, just as long as my black one has.
