Every year in our home we purchase Advent calendars, but not your typical chocolate ones, awww no, the kiddies have their Lego calendars – as does my hubby 😉 – and I vary mine each year.

This year I have chosen the Yankee Candle Advent Calendar Carousel.

Yankee Candle Carousel Advent Calendar

I have long been a fan of Yankee Candles and normally choose the Winter Wonderland votive sampler collectable book, which includes 12 Christmas themed votives.

Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be making them this year and therefore, I have quite happily opted for the Carousel instead. Not a bad exchange I have to admit!!

Hidden inside this beautiful decorative carousel box are twenty tea lights and four votive candles. The tea lights will burn for around 4 hours whilst the votives burn for 12-13 hours.

There are six different fragrances for the tea lights which include Candy Cane Lane, Winter Glow, Snowflake Cookie, Icicles, Bundle Up and Spiced Orange plus the four festive votives.

I can’t say which will be my favourite or which smells bring back the most childhood Christmas memories, as I have to be patient and wait until 1st December, although the aromas oozing out of the carousel box itself, even before opening it are already making me smile.

Yankee Candle House Advent Calendar

There is also a Yankee Candle House Advent Calendar which is also beautiful but only contains 1 votive with 23 tea lights in the same Christmas themed scents.

I definitely think I made the right choice with choosing the Christmas carousel box, as I think it looks prettier and more festive and has the extra votives instead of tea lights enclosed.

So seeing as I couldn’t wait to get myself in the festive mood, I bought a Christmas votive house gift set which included 12 festive scented votives. The ones getting me into the festive spirit last week were Sugared Apple and Christmas Garland.

Both are gorgeous in their own way, although the sugared apple was quite overpowering to start with. Then again it did leave a lovely aroma in the hallway, which you could smell as soon as you walked through the front door.

This week its the turn of Snow In Love and Christmas Cookie to ignite my Christmas spirit. Not that I need much inspiration to get into the festivities, as I do love a good Christmas build up.

So whether you are thinking of buying this Yankee Candle advent calendar as a gift to yourself or someone you love, it will make a great first gift to set you up nicely for the coming Christmas season.
